Implicit Bias and Student Homelessness with Claudia Avendaño-Ibarra, MSW LSWAIC

Purpose: A professional development opportunity for Workforce professionals to review implicit bias and to discuss homelessness in the State of WA as well as how to support students.

Claudia Avendaño-Ibarra (she, her, hers, ella) believes in the power of equity, affirmation of human diversity, and in the empowerment of disenfranchised communities in addressing human rights, problems in living, and inequitable access to resources. She obtained her Master of Social Work in 2010 from Eastern Washington University and embraces core values such as service, social justice, competence, integrity, dignity and worth of the person and the importance of human relationships. For her, leadership is a journey that carries the opportunity to listen, to be humble, and to courageously serve towards systemic change.

Who should attend? Faculty, deans, navigators, counselors, staff, administrators, human resources, continuing education and coordinators from the community and technical college system, K12 and apprenticeship.
