We currently have a Raw Product Planner Scheduler opportunity available at our Caldwell, ID potato processing plant.

Job Summary

This Raw Product Planner Scheduler is responsible for managing over 600,000 tons of potatoes to support multiple plants. This position manages and compiles raw product data; coordinates acquisition of raw product; oversees storage and delivery plans for raw product and oversees raw product inspection to assure the business’s finished product objectives are met. This person oversees daily and long-term scheduling for raw type, quantity, quality, and blend requirements for all plants and product lines in coordination with plant production personnel to assure timely and cost effective delivery of raw to meet production needs. This position is responsible for regular reports for disbursement to plant, and Food Group offices for the purpose of reporting raw product status, and making recommendations for action. This position reports to the Regional Raw Procurement Manager.

Responsibilities

Directs and coordinates raw product usage and scheduling to meet quality, cost, regulatory guidelines, and production requirements.
Ensures a sound, professional relationship is maintained with growers, plant production personnel, and field reps.
Monitors raw inspection for accuracy in grower payment and improves knowledge of raw quality to ensure multi-plant production success.
Ensures records and raw product data are maintained accurately and reported in a timely and accurate manner.
Ensures Company policies, procedures, and Union contracts are administered in a fair and consistent manner.
Ensures the interface with other support groups is conducive with the operations goals.
Ensures additional accountabilities, as may be required by management, be handled in a manner necessary to meet operational and divisional standards.

Requirements

A Bachelor degree in Agronomy, Agricultural Engineering, Business, Accounting, Food Processing, or related field is preferred, but related equal experience will be considered
State Department of Agriculture Agent’s license to purchase potatoes and a current State Pesticide license is preferred.
Three plus years related experience and/or training
Previous experience as Shift Manager, Field Representative, Plant Planner/Scheduler or other related position
Potato processing and/or purchasing experience
Must be proficient with Microsoft OS (Windows XP Professional) and Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) and understand table and data manipulation between various computing environments
Strong mathematical, verbal, and written communication skills
Travel is required

Monsantos Vegetable Seeds Division is seeking a highly motivated individual for a Crop Specialist role in the Foundation Seed department. The Crop Specialist is primarily responsible for maintaining high quality parental seed for the duration of the products life cycle. The Crop Specialist will gather and share information with team members from across functions, including Breeding, Breeding Technology, Manufacturing and Quality Assurance. The successful candidate will be detail oriented with good organizational, communication and human relation skills. The position is located in Payette, Idaho.

Responsibilities include:
Maintain adequate inventories of FS for responsible crops using all available system tools.
Maintain accurate records of FS increases including inventory, purity, and disease testing.
Interact with plant breeders for technical support and advancement of new parent lines.

Work with Supply Chain department and Quality Assurance department to be aware of inventory position and quality of seed being used
Review proposed product business case (PBC) and determine whether or not parental lines are in place; communicate to the advancement committee if there are no restrictions or comment on conditions for advancement
Serve on Crop Team or other high level committee
Effectively prepare and present FS information in formal and/or informal meetings

Qualifications:

Sensory Panelist

The J.R. Simplot Technical Center in Caldwell is searching for part time employees who would be interested in working on a trained sensory panel. The panelists work in the Research and Development department and evaluate/sample new as well as existing products (including all potato products, vegetables, avocados, complete meals, beef, etc.).

Depending on demand, the sensory panel usually works two to three 4 hour days each week (usually mornings). The panelists may work as much as 25 hours per week or as little as 6 hours per week.

Experience/Qualifications:

At least 18 years of age
Non-Smoker
No food allergies
High tolerance for fried foods
Must pass a drug test
Must pass sensory screening tests & interviews
Must want part-time job only
Must be able to attend 6-8 hours of training each day for up to the first three weeks of hire

Heinz North America is seeking a Potato Lead who will develop and implement a North American Agriculture Procurement Strategy for Potatoes.
Who will be successful in this role? A leader who will.

Lead Idaho, Washington and Oregon raw potato negotiations. Allocate contract volumes by growing regions and potato variety to maximize raw product value. Review supply agreements to justify components. Identify appropriate quality open potato lots and purchase as needed, minimizing cost impact to company. Work with grower groups to support Heinz initiatives (GAP, Sustainability, etc.).

Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Ore-Ida BU, Factory Management, Supply Chain, Finance, Quality, Research and Global Ag) and raw potato suppliers and bargaining associations to develop and execute a sourcing and operational strategy for Potato Portfolio across Heinz North America.

Lead execution of the strategy and deliver the annual savings targets, as well as enhanced capabilities and innovation where applicable.

Align with Ag Pillar Lead, Potato BU and Director Global Ag for strategy development and execution.

Support Ontario factory management for support of potato processing plan.

Develop and implement market oriented category sourcing and supplier management strategies to achieve competitive advantage through lowest purchase cost, ingredient performance and value improvements consistent with the direction set by the business.

Deliver results in key performance areas including cost management, market & financial forecast accuracy, cash performance, service & quality to plants, process improvements, innovation, and alignment with our internal business partners.

Understand regional stakeholder and Potato business unit requirements and define, develop and implement the optimal strategy for Heinz that delivers our procurement objectives.

Set up raw product withdrawal plan, based on raw quality attributes, to support production pack plan. Establish cellar sampling plan to identify changes in potatoes during storage and use this information to optimize raw product blending.

Manage trucking operation through outside vendors to assure timely and efficient delivery of raw product to production. Set up contingency plan to deal with significant changes in custom carrier mix.

Prepare accurate overhead budget and monthly forecasts to support pack plan requirements.

Develop expertise within the organization around the supply markets that we are buying in and the impacts governmental; technological; and economic changes that impact those markets.

Ensure the supplier base is capable of supplying Heinz expectations in relationships to Quality and Service and develop contingency strategies as required.

Manage and develop supplier relationships, acting as the primary interface on behalf of Heinz to key category suppliers.

Regular interface with Demand Planners, Marketing, Quality, Finance, Manufacturing, Research and Global Agriculture.

Ensure professional development of members of the team and overall department is in place and carried out effectively.

Experience – External:
The following skills and experience are required to be considered for this position:

Bachelor’s Degree in Agronomy, Supply Chain, Procurement, Engineering, or related field.
5+ years of management experience contracting food processing crops with a strong understanding of Agronomy, Procurement, Food Processing and Quality with roles of increasing scope & responsibility.
Experience with potatoes preferred.
Demonstration of management and leadership of a team of professionals.
Ability to demonstrate strategic thought leadership including strategy development and implementation.
Ability to demonstrate change management experience and successes; as well as to effectively build a team.
Ability to demonstrate superior interpersonal, coaching, and communication skills to multiple levels of the organization.

Key Accountabilities:

Advanced skills in statistical analysis.

Effective presentation skills and solid oral and written communications.
Strong drive for results, self-motivated, team leader.
Must be willing and able to travel 33% of the time.
