We currently have a boiler refrigerator operator position available at our potato processing plant in Caldwell, ID.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for maintenance and operation of all equipment in the Boiler and Refrigeration system of the facility, including air compressors, HVAC equipment, ammonia compressors and auxiliary equipment. RETA CARO & CAIRO Certifications are required for this position.

Responsibilities

Ensures operation of the Boiler and Refrigeration systems is conducted efficiently and safely to achieve operational goals
Performs samples, readings and analysis to ensure Boiler and Refrigeration areas are maintained to achieve optimal efficiency
Performs advanced refrigeration and boiler duties
Ensures the capabilities of efficient operation of all equipment in the Boiler and Refrigeration system
Perform preventative maintenance in an acceptable manner as scheduled through JDE, work orders, logs, e-mails and reader boards
Ensures the accuracy of data reporting systems such as boiler logs, refrigeration logs, and cold storage warehouse recorders
Perform assigned responsibilities during plant evacuation or other emergency situation
Ensures that work orders are completed as assigned
Maintains work area and equipment in a clean and functional condition
Ensures self-compliance with Company policies, procedures and SOP’s
Ensures attendance and participation in training activities appropriate to the position and incorporates acquired skills and knowledge to the position
Ensures the interface with team members and other support groups is conducted in a participative management style conducive with operational goals
Conducts oneself in a professional manner and ensures appearance meets the standards necessary to perform the job function and while representing the company
Ensures that additional accountabilities as may be required by management be handled in a manner necessary to meet operational and Divisional standards
Works independently, and with other Boiler/Refrigeration Operators on trouble-shooting a large ammonia facility, work on related P/Ms, and supports other Boiler/Refrigeration Operators in duties that require two or more employees
Serve as a resource to other Boiler/Refrigeration Operators
Works with other Boiler/Refrigeration Operators on troubleshooting a large ammonia facility, work on related P/Ms, and support other Boiler/Refrigeration Operators
Plays a supporting role in the continued progress of the plant safety management system (PSM). Works with contractors and operators on air compressor work orders and P/Ms. Performs advanced duties using an ammonia full face mask while aiding operators
Understands fully lockout tag/out procedures both for electrical and valve shut of
Ensures self-compliance with Company policies and procedures and Collective Bargaining Agreement
Must understand, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair equipment as necessary

Requirements

Must have high school diploma or GED Must have advanced knowledge of the refrigeration cycle; advanced understanding of the purposes and operations of overall Boiler and Refrigeration system
Must have RETA CARO and CAIRO Certifications and 2 years of documented industrial boiler/refrigeration operator experience
Must have Full Face Respirator (MSA) and Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) certification.
Must have good oral and written communication skills. Must be able to read and interpret written instructions, manufacturer’s manuals, material safety data sheets, and engineering drawings. Must be able to create advanced written instructions and detailed documents
Must be able to work in moderate to high level noise
Must meet the OSHA standard for Fall Restraint (a total combined weight of employee and tools of no more than 310 pounds)
Must be able to perform intermediate math functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, average, fractions, decimal, square root, and percentages)
Must be able to communicate in a manner to successfully perform all job duties
Must have intermediate computer skills
Must have intermediate logic/critical thinking skills
Must be able to stand, walk, climb stairs, ladders, and maneuver in closed quarters on a regular basis
Must be able to perform basic welding and cutting techniques in a safe manner
