Welcome to the Agriculture Center of Excellence

The Agriculture Center of Excellence provides fast and flexible service responding to interests of education institutions and workforce training needs of the agricultural industry across Washington State.   Designed to encourage economic development through collaborative processes and partnerships, the Center fulfills this role by supplying leadership and coordination that link education and industry needs.  The Center continues to evolve in a diverse and technologically advancing industry that includes rural, urban, and related agriculture support services.  To this end, the Center promotes the establishment of clear education and career pathways in agriculture to advance the state's $38 billion food and agricultural industry*. 

For Workers & Students...

  • Dissemination of industry news and training programs
  • Degree/certificate and worker retraining programs
  • Clear education and career pathways for workers and students.
  • Access to programs that upgrade skills in reading, writing, communicating, and mathematics

For Industry Partners...

  • Skilled interns and trained employees from the community and technical college system
  • Access to distance learning options for current employees in selected ag related subjects
  • Promotion of agriculture training opportunities through regional conferences, seminars, and trade shows

For Educators...

  • Support for curriculum enhancement and expansion
  • Facilitation of articulation arrangements between secondary and postsecondary academic institutions
  • Professional development workshops and conferences
  • Assistance in recruiting students into agriculture and agriculture-related education programs
